Fatwood Firestarter Fatwood is a fabulous all natural fire starter that originates from the stumps of Longleaf Yellow Pine, where the wood is rich in sap. The Longleaf Pine is well known for it's abundance of resins within it's heatwood, the heavy sap concentrates near the base of the tree , but also when the tree is harvested and cut down, the root system continues to produce sap up into the stump until the stump finally dies and stops producing the resins that once sustained the living tree. The leftover pine tree stumps are then split and sawn off into small uniform pieces by hand. once this has happened the remains of the stump are removed and new trees are planted in it's place. Some of these stumps may have originally been cut down over 60 years ago, yet they still have these resin soaked stumps in near perfect conditon and still ideal to harvest the fatwood ! The Longleaf Yellow Pine was the natural source of turpentine and is know for it's heartwood's rich abundance of flamable sap and resins that are the source of Fatwoods incredible firestarting ability. Fatwood contains no chemicals to cause unpleasant odors so it's great for use in the fireplace, wood stoves, outdoor fire pits, even BBQs. Fatwood Fire starters burn clean, light quickly even wet, and only take a few sticks to get a roaring fire started fast! Be sure to keep a ready supply of Fatwood on hand for all your burning needs.
