Quality Dry and Absorbent Wood Fines

These wood fines (sawdust) are ideal for adding to drilling fluids and drilling mud, well fluids and for spills or mixing with drill cuttings. Our sawdust wood fines are dried to an average of 10% or less assuring that they will mix well and absorb moisture properly.

Many bulk wood fines and sawdust are stored outside in piles and are wet and contaminated. This can cause problems when mixing or using the saw dust wood fines with drilling mud, drilling fluid and drill cuttings as the sawdust often has high moisture content, resulting in poor absorbancy .

Our compressed bulk totes contain approx 300 or more cubic foot of dry sawdust wood fines and are weather proof to prevent the fines from getting wet or being blown away in the wind.  No more frozen piles of sawdust !

The other advantage with the bulk tote system is that the wood fiber material whether it be wood shavings, wood fines or sawdust, is compressed into the totes unlike loose bulk shavings which use up a lot of volume.

We can get up to at least 15,000 cubic feet into a standard 53' semi van with 48 totes. This is at least 3 to 4 times MORE loose material than you can haul in a large end dump or moving floor bulk trailer ( avg 3,000 to 5,000 cu ft ).

The biggest cost of wood shavings and fines are the trucking costs. This way you can fit 3 or more standard bulk loads in one trip savings often thousands of dollars. 

The totes are easy to transport, are tough and durable for rough handling and are easy to manipulate with or without machinery. Ideal for remote sites where there is limited machinery available for handling loose wood fines/sawdust. The totes can be rolled by one person or handled with a skidsteer or small track hoe.

The FBIC bags are eco friendly and biodegradable and can be disposed of in any landfill.

Wood Fiber Pellets

Wood pellets will breakdown into this absorbent
fiber within minutes of contact with wet material

We also carry pine wood pellets in various grades which are ideal for many drilling, pipeline and environmental applications.

Wood pellets are highly compressed wood fibre that quickly absorb more than 4 times their weight in liquids. Due to the high compression it is possible to move and store a lot more wood fiber in pellet form.

For example it is possible to move around 30 tons of pellets on the average van type semi truck in one load, with loose sawdust or shavings it would require at
least 3 to 4 of the same sized trucks to haul the equivalent load of loose wood sawdust/shavings. In this case the trucking costs far exceed the cost of the fiber, meaning it a lot cheaper to haul the densified pellets.

The fiber in wood pellets is much more absorbent than loose wood dust or shavings. During the process of compression when the pellets are being made, the fiber is subjected to both drying and heat, this basically bursts the fibers making them into a more fuzzy hair like looser fiber that can absorb and hold more moisture than regular untouched wood fiber. Pellets are also a LOT drier than sawdust at 3% moisture. This means a LOT more absorbancy.

Pellet fibers are also finer and decompose more efficiently than shavings which can take years to decompose.

Overall pellets can save you a lot of money and are more flexible plus are easy to handle, move and store than wood fines/shavings. Pellets are available in bulk, bulk tote bags and 40 lbs bags on Pallets. Very flexible options for specific job site conditions.

Our high Quality Pine wood fines are packaged in convenient industry standard FBIC bulk totes and compressed for an impressive 300 plus cubic feet of dry perfectly sized wood fines.

These larger bulk bags offer a more economically way to buy fines compared to other plastic bags sold by other distributors. You have more choices for transportation to your work sites with our bulk bags as flat decks, B-Trains , vans and trailers can be used to transport as opposed to expensive end dumps and walk floor trailers which are not always available.

Each bulk tote is 46"x46"x46", weighs about 700 lbs plus and
contains approx 300 or more compressed cubic feet of dry wood fines
when emptied.

When compared to loose bulk shavings, these FBIC totes carry a lot more wood fibre because the shaving are compressed into the totes.

A semi load of 48 totes can carry an average of approx 15,000 cubic feet of shavings compared to approx 3,000 to 4,000 cu ft in the average walking floor trailer or large end dump.

The trucking costs are often the most expensive part of buying shavings, when you can get the equivalent of 3 to 5 loads of loose shavings in one truckload with the compressed shavings in totes that is a HUGE cost savings. Plus the shavings are dry and protected inside the totes.
